Antonia and Peter left the country's number one family law practice,
Withers LLP, in 2013 to set up their own firm, Burgess Mee.

Antonia Mee

Partner

Antonia trained at a West End firm and, on qualification in 2003, joined City firm Kingsley Napley as a solicitor specialising in family law. In 2007 she moved to market-leading family law firm Withers LLP before founding Burgess Mee in 2013 alongside Peter.

In her time at Withers LLP Antonia acted for the wife in the reported case of JKN v JCN which involved a transatlantic divorce. She has also worked on many small, medium and high net worth financial cases and complex children cases.

Antonia is recommended in the Legal 500 2015 “[She] ensures that the best interest of the child is always of paramount importance”.

Antonia has lectured on family law, written articles in the legal press and has contributed to text books on divorce.

She was formerly Secretary of Resolution (London Region) and sat on the steering committee for 'Parenting After Parting', an initiative designed to help separated parents rebuild their parenting relationship for the sake of the children.

Antonia co-founded the family law advice clinic at the Peckham CAB where she is a voluntary advisor and trains McKenzie friends to assist litigants in person.

Peter Burgess

Partner and Mediator

Peter trained at top family law firm Withers LLP, where he qualified in 2005 as a family law solicitor. He continued working there until founding Burgess Mee with Antonia in 2013.

Peter is a qualified solicitor advocate which means he is specially trained to attend any court on your behalf.

Peter is a trained Resolution mediator.

During his time at Withers, Peter was involved in many landmark cases including Charman, the largest reported payout by an English court, and Imerman v Tchenguiz, which changed the law on financial disclosure on divorce. He brings to bear his experience and discipline in every case, no matter how big or small.

Peter is recommended in the Legal 500 2015 as being “genuinely interested in securing the best possible outcome”. He has also been recognised as a leading family lawyer in London by SuperLawyers, Citywealth and Spears Wealth Management Service.

Peter is an active member of Resolution, formerly the Solicitors’ Family Law Association. He is a member of the committee responsible for drafting publications, which issues guidance to other family lawyers nationwide.

Peter also regularly writes articles and speaks on family law and is a co-author of International Trust and Divorce Litigation, a leading text for lawyers on how complex international trusts have been treated by the divorce courts.

David Lillywhite

 

David joined Burgess Mee in October 2015. Qualifying into a large regional firm in 2005, he joined a Mayfair practice in 2008 before heading up the family law department at a commercial City firm in 2010.

David deals with all types of family law work including advising upon divorce & separation, matrimonial finance (often involving substantial assets and/or with an international element), pre-and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes and private children matters including international relocation. He also has experience in acting for individuals in the public eye.

He is a member of Resolution. David completed his mediation training in June 2015 and is available to conduct mediation sessions. He is also able to co-mediate with Peter Burgess where a matter might benefit from the additional perspective that two mediators can bring.

David is also collaboratively-trained.

Outside of work David's interests include film, comedy, horology and all things Scandinavian.

Kirsty Morris

 

Kirsty joined Burgess Mee in April 2013. She studied law at Edinburgh University before completing her Diploma in Legal Practice at Aberdeen University. She completed her traineeship at Brodies LLP in Edinburgh, qualifying in June 2010.

After moving to London upon qualification, she joined the Family Department at Mishcon de Reya where she spent two years practicing exclusively in family law. During her time at Mishcon de Reya, Kirsty worked on complex, high net worth cases which often involved an international element. Kirsty has experience in both financial and private children cases.

Kirsty is a qualified solicitor in Scotland and England and Wales. She has a particular interest in international children cases having worked previously at the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, VA, USA.

Kirsty is an active member of Resolution and is a member of the London Young Resolution committee.

Robert Micklem

 

Robert joined Burgess Mee in October 2014. He studied Philosophy and Theology at Durham University before completing his Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP in Holborn.

He trained at Manches LLP and qualified into their family department in 2011. He later worked at Dawson Cornwell before joining Burgess Mee this year. Robert undertakes all types of family law work including divorce, matrimonial finance, pre-nuptial agreements and private children matters including international relocation. However, his work has predominantly involved advising clients in complex financial cases often with an international element.

In his spare time, Robert enjoys reading, travelling, going to the cinema and playing most sports.

Robert is a member of Resolution and Young Resolution.

Elizabeth Grant

 

Elizabeth joined Burgess Mee in September 2013, having trained at top regional firm, Stevens & Bolton LLP, where she gained experience in the family, private client, real estate and corporate departments.

She graduated from Lincoln College, Oxford University with a BA (Hons) in Jurisprudence before studying at The College of Law in Guildford, achieving a distinction.

Elizabeth deals with all areas of family law, including divorce, matrimonial finance, pre-nuptial agreements and children matters.

She is a member of Resolution and Young Resolution.

Outside of work, Elizabeth is a keen baker and also enjoys tennis (watching and playing), running and travelling.

Stephanie Allerton

 

Stephanie joined Burgess Mee in January 2014. She studied Maths with Psychology at the University of Birmingham, where she also completed her Graduate Diploma in Law. She studied the Legal Practice Course at BPP in Holborn, achieving a distinction.

She trained at Speechly Bircham LLP in London, where she worked in the family, contentious trusts and estates, property and insolvency departments. She also spent six months on a client secondment with the in-house legal department of Atkins plc.

After qualifying in 2013 she joined the Contentious Trusts and Estates team at Charles Russell where she gained experience in disputes over contested wills, estates and family trusts.

She now deals with all areas of family law, including divorce, financial proceedings, children matters and pre-nuptial agreements. She is a member of Resolution and Young Resolution.
